Elkana Sherlo is married to Maya, and they have eight children. A 30-year resident of Yeruham in Israel’s Negev, Elkana completed his studies at the local hesder yeshiva and at Herzog College. A graduate of the Beit Midrash for Israel Rabbis of the Hartman Institute and the Midrasha at Oranim, Elkana is leading the current cohort. He is a founding partner of an interfaith group in the Negev, where he also teaches a wide variety of groups. A member of the Tzohar and Beit Hillel rabbis associations, Elkana has received both the Israeli Tikva [Hope] prize Ladislaus Laszt Ecumenical and Social Engagement Award.
